Recently, a number of well-known scholars and educators from abroad came to visit Xiwai International School. The visitors were shown around the campus and had in-depth discussions with Xiwai leaders, Mr.Xu and Dr.Lin. Among the visitors were Prof. Kirk Patterson, President of Temple University, Japan; Prof. Brian Cantor, Vice-Chancellor of York University, U.K.; Dr. Andy M.Tyrrell, Head of the Electronics Dept., York University; Prof. Alan Burns, Director of the Computer Science Dept., York University; Mr.Simon Willis, Director of the International Exchange Dept., York University; and also Mr. Paul H. Swenson, Chief Representative of the China Office, American Great Lakes, and Mr. Steven Parker, Representative of the Cambridge International Test Centre, East Asia Division. The visitors had extensive talks with Mr Xu and Dr Lin on academic cooperation and other matters, including school partnerships between Xiwai and Temple and York Universities.

Mr.Nicholas Rockefeller's Visit (May 15,2005)

        During the weekend Open Day of Xiwai International School, the honorable Mr.Nicholas Rockefeller and his party came to join the meeting with parents and prospective Xiwai students. He and his party received a warm welcome from the people present. Accompanying him was Mr. Xu Ziwang, General Manager of Goldman Sachs Asian Operation, one of the founders of Xiwai. Mr.Rockefeller said at the Open Day meeting that during a previous visit of his a few months earlier, the area was only a piece of barren land. He was delighted to see that now, in such a short space of time, a new school had been completely constructed. Mr.Rockefeller also met with the school's staff members who were participating in the Open Day. He praised them for their hard work and their spirit of sacrifice, and stressed that it is imperative that all schools should have an international perspective.

Cambridge A-Level Officials Visit Xiwai

        At around 3:00 p.m. on May 23, 2005 Mr. Stephen Stocker, Assistant Director of Inter-national Education, University of Cambridge, Mr. Steven Parker, Representative of the Cambridge International Test Centre, East Asia Division, and Mr. Xinwen Chen, Project Executive, visited Xiwai International School. The visitors toured around the school campus, accompanied by the two founders of school, Dr.Lin, Chief Principal of Xiwai and Mr. Ziwang Xu, and Maria, an expert on bilingual English/ Chinese education. The two parties had fruitful talks on setting up A Level programmes in Xiwai and discussed matters of mutual interest.

American School Administrators’ Visit to Xiwai

        On March 24, 2006 Lucia Buchanan Pierce, Director of International Programs, Sidwell Friends School, and her party of three, came to visit Xiwai International School. Sidwell Friends School is a well-known private school in Washington D.C., Capital of the U.S. A group of Junior Two students from our school went on a tour to look around Sidwell Friends School, and discussed issues of preventing water pollution with the students of the same grades there. During their stay in Xiwai, Lucia Buchanan Pierce and her party of three explored with Xiwai leaders the prospects of inter-school exchanges. The visitors spoke highly of the quality of Xiwai schoolers and of Xiwai’s environment on campus.

Guests from York University, the U.K.

        On March 23, 2006 Prof. Simon Willis, Director of International Exchange and Prof. Kim Manderson of York University visited Xiwai International School again in months. Prof. Simon Willis was the key-note speaker at the forum on international education. The two guests had talks with Chief Principal, Dr. Lin Ming on setting up a pre-university curriculum, which would be of mutual benefit.
