High Praise from Inspection Team

On November 19, 2021, the international high school curriculum department of Xiwai was inspected by Shanghai Education Bureau. The annual inspection working group was commissioned by Shanghai International Curriculum Comparative Research Institute of Basic Education, which is to urge schools to run schools in a standardized manner and ensure the effective implementation of the national curriculum and protect the legitimate rights and interests of students.
After the school report, the experts were divided into four groups and had meetings with the school administrators, including General Principal Lin Min, Ms. Pan, director of the International Curriculum Department, and representatives from parents and students. They discussed about the school philosophy, standardized management, curriculum setting and implementation of the International high school curriculum department. Afterwards, the experts observed math, history and politics classes, spoke highly of these student-centered and interactive classes.
The experts pointed out that Xiwai international high school persists in strengthening moral education as a fundamental task. Also, it organizes many innovative activities, which helps create a good atmosphere. Under the national policies, Xiwai International High School takes 88-credit curriculum as dominant compulsory course. As a pilot school of Shanghai international curriculum reform, it has made its own contribution to China's basic education revolution. Meanwhile, the standardized management in school is also improved.
In 2021, under the increasingly severe international situation, graduates of 2021 made great achievements. They were admitted to Stanford, New York University, Berkeley, University College London, University of Toronto and other famous universities. In this year's ED application, one student of 2022 received an interview invitation from Cambridge University, and many students received conditional offers from first-class universities such as G5 in the UK. The US ED application is also waiting for good news.
The AP examination in May 2021 had achieved good results in terms of participation rate and excellent rate. Students of the international high school had participated in 132 examinations, covering 9 subject groups such as mathematics and chemistry, psychology, social sciences and computer science, among which the excellence rate of 3 subjects is more than 90% and that of 3 subjects is more than 80%.
In terms of curriculum construction, we have newly developed PBL activities such as immersed drama tour in Grand Garden of ‘A Dream of Red Mansions’, Huangling biodiversity survey and water cycle function. Except for helping students prepare for AP examination, mathematics and experimental subjects are also promoting the connection between compulsory courses and elective courses. In the continuous theoretical exploration and classroom practice, they are slowly refining a feasible curriculum implementation plan.
"Go through trials and hardships and never forget your original goal". Since its establishment in 2005, Xiwai had begun to explore a curriculum system dominated by China's national curriculum and integrated with China and the West. Under the great changes in global education, what education does not change is to pay attention to people, pay attention to people's cultural heritage, identity and global consciousness.
