Training Objective
1. To expand the students' vision, broaden their knowledge, develop their intercultural communicative competence and enable them to be acquainted with western moral principles, culture, society, science, economics and politics.
2. To foster students humanities and characteristics

3. To foster the students' scientific literacy: problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills
4.To emphasize communicative competence (reading, writing and verbal communication)
5.To cultivate the students to become responsible people with positive attitudes, sensibility and independence.

Curriculum Framework
A. Language: Literature, English, ESL (English as a second language) and French
B. Mathematics: Geometry, Algebra and SAT
C. Social Science: History, Economics, Government and Philosophy, Psychology and Business Administration
D. Natural science: Physics, Chemistry and Biology
E. Arts & PE: Theatre, Music and design, PE
F: Information Technology and Environment Studies: Computer Science
G: Practice & Ethics: CAS (creativity, activity and service), Chinese Ancient Civilization, Career Planning
H: Optional : Accounting, Movie appreciation, Newspaper, Drama, Public Speaking

First year high school: All courses are compulsory courses, of which literature and ESL adopts graded teaching. There are 41 class hours each week.

Second year high school: Natural science and Social Science can be elective subjects. Research subjects are added.

Course Description
1. All courses have corresponding credits. Students have to pass the exam to earn due credits.
2. Students have to participate in the CAS program (i.e. creativity, activity and service) and work 100 hours, which is split into two parts- individual and collective activities.
3. English for IELTS is the main part of language course.
4. Electives are considered from practical subjects to natural science. Second year students can choose between Physics and Chemistry, Psychology or Business Administration, Information technology or Government and Politics.
5. CAS course cooperates with "Roots and Shoots" Eco-Office and organizes students to visit Chongming Eco-park and migrant workers elementary schools. Students can plant organic vegetables and organize environmental activities around the campus for a better understanding of the eco-friendly concept.
6. Theatre course and Information Technology courses encourage students to participate in public performances while building lasting confidence.

5. Our 2014-2015 Electives course will expand and feature optional courses that the students themselves will get to vote for.  The potential classes proposed for electives are as follows:
