西外开学第一课 总校长魔力开启书香宝库（图）

人世间最神奇的魔法来自哪里？

今年的开学季，上海西外外国语学校的开学典礼别具一格，“Reading Campus Taking Pride in Ourselves”是本学期的主题，作为一所幼儿园、小学、初中和高中齐全的国际化全日制寄宿学校，西外以培养“独立之人格、自由之思想”的具有中西融合视野的国际公民为办学目标，围绕培养学生批判力、创造力和创新力等核心素养研发课程。在这样的课程体系浸润下，阅读成了西外人日复一日的常态，成为这所年轻的学校保持生机和续航力的能量来源，总校长林敏博士在开学典礼上的“魔法现身”也让西外的师生和家长们在聆听与互动中“开悟”——

原来人世间最神奇的魔法是读书。

以下是林校长即兴演讲文字实录：

So many of your spirits are here. I really feel excited. I know I stand in a natural kingdom of wisdom. I can see so many of you standing in front of me. I have seen so many beautiful fancies. I have seen so many beautiful, beautiful human beings.

西外这里孕育着很多的灵魂。我真的感觉很激动。我知道自己身在天然的智慧王国。我可以看到你们都站在我面前，充满了美妙的奇思幻想。我已经看到很多如此美丽的生命。

Thank heaven, you sent me here. I really wish I could be with you all the time.

I don’t want to be the principal of that magic school in that kingdom of wisdom. I really want to be with you, with all of you, your wonderful teachers from America, Britain, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and China.

谢谢上苍把我送到这里。我真的希望我可以一直陪伴着你们。我不想要成为那所充满智慧的魔法学校的校长。我真的想要和你们在一起，和你们所有的人，包括来自美国、英国、澳大利亚、加拿大、新西兰和中国的非常棒的老师。

All the students here: I want to be with you.

所有在场的学生，我想要伴随你们一起成长。

Try to fulfill our dreams.

请试着实现我们的梦想。

I have a dream:

I want to live with you

to share knowledge with you

to strive for the best

to become a great, great individual

for us to help each other

to support each other

我想要自己和你们一起生活，分享知识，来努力做到最好，来成为伟大的人，来相互帮助，来支持对方。

I hope that in the wonderful castle

behind me, there are some interesting things.

我希望在这个奇妙的城堡后面，会有一些有趣的东西在那里。

请你们闭上眼睛，可以吗？

所有的我们在场的老师们倒数：一、二、三！

我有一个魔法棒，让我们来看看城堡后面有什么东西？

WOW!!! Oh...books!

哇！很多书！

The very important source of knowledge for us to become great human beings and to be able to conquer the world, to land on the moon, to fly into space, to be the masters of our own destiny.

这正是非常重要的知识的来源！他们能让我们成为伟大的人，能够征服这个世界，能够登上月球，能够飞向太空，能够让我们成为自己命运的主宰。

Come on,

Can anyone come here or send a representative here? I will give you these books.

来吧，有人能上来或者派个代表过来吗？我可以给你们这些书。

From now on, all the teachers will pass these books around the campus.

Let me share all this wisdom and knowledge.

从现在开始，所有的老师会将这些书在校园里传承下去。

这样的开学典礼是不是很有“魔性”？西外新学期的校园内，也修葺和增设了文字窗、竹欣阁、柏拉图之角、苏菲的世界、奕盘、音乐港、云教室、约翰的小屋、一米阳光、观星台、大观涂鸦室、百老汇等极诗意的文化空间，在这样的空间里学习工作，神秘的“书篮”，俯仰坐立之间的“书架”，流动的“书车”，溢满阳光和咖啡香的“书亭”，这一切让西外的自然与文化空间交相融和，成为了一所厚重亦不失灵动的“书舍”，而阅读，也渐渐回归了教育的本义，成为一种朴素的、有魔力的，却很真实的幸福。
