Students got good results in The Thespian Festival 2017 (青年戏剧节）

2017青年戏剧节 

高中国际课程部再获殊荣 

在刚刚过去的2017年青年戏剧节中，西外高中国际课程部的学生们又一次取得了好成绩。这是学校每年都会参加的一场戏剧盛宴，也是学生展示自我、发现自我的魅力舞台。

作为指导老师的外教Carlos难以表达自己的激动之情，他迫不及待地要和大家分享分享。

Xiwai students have proudly represented Xiwai International High School in the Young Thespian Festival competition 2017. This is a yearly event that that is hosted in Shanghai for the past 4 years and Xiwai has been a part of it every year. The competition hosted 300 Student ACTOR competitors from all over China. Some of the provinces represented include Guizhou, Anhui, and Jiangsu just to list a few.

In past competitions, the events were monologues (2 minute speech) and duologues (2 person conversations) with every year adding and changing other events such as; Reader’s Theater (acting just by reading a script and using your voice), improvisations (make it up as you go) and a group scene work. With so many different types of performances and abilities to see, the competition has grown from a 1 day performance to a 2 day event culminating in the AWARDS Presentations. As in every completion, there is always some winners and losers. However, that is not the case when having a DRAMA competition because the value that the students receive outweighs the results of winning and losing because of the courage, the discipline, and self-confidence needed and gained by doing these competitions. 

Our students trained and practiced for 2-3 weeks depending on class homework and other school activities that they were involved in afterschool. As a result for their efforts, they have placed in the quarter finals and also received certificates and also won the distinct honor for “Best voice in Scene”. As in any other competition, you never know what the other team brings. 

“Drama is a demanding mistress” and those that partake of her lessons demand nothing but the best we can offer of ourselves. What we gain from the diligence of rehearsals and memorizing words written by people we don’t know, is knowing that we have done our best and can be proud of the work produced. Fortune is a fickle being that chooses the moment in life to grant our desires. 

I would like to thank the following students for courage, heart and bravery in the face of unknown obstacles to continue to represent Xiwai International High School. These students gave of themselves so that we may shine in the real world. 

To these students we say Thank you and continue with the dream of exploring every that life has to offer.

我们几位来自西外国际课程部的高中学生，他们非常地自豪，因为他们可以代表西外参加在上海市举办的2017年青年戏剧节比赛。本赛事每年在上海举办一次，而且在过去的四年里，我们的学生每年都会参赛，与来自全国各地的300名学生小演员们同台竞技。

在过去的比赛中，比赛项目包括：独白剧（2分钟的讲话）和对白剧（2人对话），而且每年都会增加和改变一些赛项，例如：1.读者大剧院（只是通过阅读脚本和使用声音来进行表演），2.即兴演出（自编自演），3. 团队现场表演。因为有着许多不同类型的表演和能力的展示，比赛从1天延长到了2天，且在颁奖活动中赛事达到了高潮。所有的比赛，总是有赢家和输家。但是，戏剧比赛没有输赢，因为学生们在比赛中收获的价值比起输赢的结果来说，要重要得多，也因为在比赛中他们展示了和获得了的宝贵的勇气、纪律观，以及自信。

在参赛前，我们的学生总共训练了2-3周，且都是在课后完成作业和参加了其他学校活动之后才有时间去练习。也正是由于他们的努力，他们现在已经进入了四分之一决赛，获得了大赛颁发证书，还赢得了“最佳嗓音”的独特荣誉。然而，和任何其他比赛一样，你永远不知道其他参赛队伍会是什么样的。

有一个说法是，“戏剧是一个要求很高的女主人”，我们没什么要求，只是想展现出我们最好的一面。我们努力地去排练，我们努力地去记住那些我们不知道的人们所写的文字，虽然辛苦，但同时我们获得了很多，我们尽了最大的努力，也为我们的作品而自豪。运气总是难以揣测，但我们依然努力付出。

我要感谢以下学生（名单见上图），感谢他们在面对未知困难的时候所展现出来的勇气，感谢他们勇于代表西外国际高中部。他们在戏剧演出上的勇敢奉献，让我们大家可以在现实世界中也感到一份荣耀。

对于这些学生，我们要说一声“谢谢你们”，请你们继续努力，去探索我们生命中的每一个梦想吧！
