Fantastic Maker Faire

Xiwai Elementary’s International Division recently held their “Maker’s Faire.”

Unlike traditional science fairs, the Maker’s Faire encompassed scientific research in both STEAM and DIY areas. We saw that in science, if you can dream it, you can do it.

Xiwai Elementary’s Internation Division has developed more than twenty scientific curricula centered on teaching children to make rock candy, soda water, industrial robots, musical equipment, and more.  At the same time, we provide students with many other educational opportunities. In all our curricula, we emphasize cooperative learning and encourage students to ask questions about their projects, so that they can learn to answer scientific questions through positive engagement and hands-on activity.

We strive to encourage our students to learn actively by planning their own experiments. In this way, students not only learn but also produce knowledge.

西外小学国际部刚刚举行了一场Maker Faire。不同于传统的科学活动，Maker’s Faire包含了S.T.E.A.M.以及DIY的科学探索。在这里只有你想不到的，没有你做不到的。

西外小学国际部拥有冰糖制作，苏打水制作，工程机器人制作，音乐设备制作等二十余种课程，同时也给学生提供很多其他的学习机会。每种课程都有小组合作项目，学生们在项目中提出问题，并通过积极的探索和亲自动手操作来自己回答问题。我们希望可以激励学生们在动手中提出他们自己的问题，设计一个项目来探索他们的问题，并最终找到属于他们自己的答案。

这就是教育者们的愿望，不光启发学习者们学习，也让他们运用自己的想法让世界变得越来越美好。
