Big English Festival

       Thursday May 25, a sunny morning, saw students from the International Middle School participating in our first ever English Fair.  

      Students from all grades created a variety of displays and objects, and performed popular English songs.

       Grade 9 Honours and Advanced streams showcased their research on the 1920s flappers and on a range of environmental issues,from water pollution to overfishing, climate change to deforestation.

        The grade 8's in Honours and Advanced streams displayed colorful posters and thoughtful essays about teen stress, several creative comic strips about volcanoes, some poetry and a video of a classroom debate on the pros and cons of artificial intelligence.

        Grade 7 students practiced their entrepreneurial skills, selling booklets they had created entirely on their own. One talked about environmental issues and how to recycle. Another covered the history of Walt Disney and his animation empire. 

       Students were also selling handmade bookmarks, recycled models and plant pots. As well there were several displays about cooking, including beautifully drawn vocabulary flash cards and video recordings on how to prepare various dishes. 

       Grade 6 displays included creatively designed posters about their trip to the botanical garden as well as comic strip styled fables. Grade 6 also presented a video recording of a comical newscast.

      周五5月25日，一个阳光明媚的早晨，西外初中双语国际课程部的学生参加了第一届英语节。各年级的学生创造出各种各样的作品，并且在舞台上表演不同风格的英文歌曲。 

       9年H班A班展示了他们对20世纪20年代切割机的研究以及一系列环境问题：从水污染到过度捕捞，气候变化到毁林。

       8年级H班A班展示了丰富多彩的海报和关于青少年压力的散文、关于火山的若干创意漫画以及一些诗歌。另外学生还制作了不同的视频，包括人工智能的利弊的课堂辩论。

       7年级学生为了练习自己的创业技能，销售自己完全创作的英语绘本杂志和漫画。同学们都在自己的作品前做着演讲，有的谈到环境问题和如何回收，有的内容涵盖了迪士尼和他的动画帝国的历史。学生们还销售手工书签、模型和盆栽。还有几个关于烹饪的展示，包括精美绘制的词汇闪卡和关于如何准备各种菜肴的录像。 

       6年级的展品包括有关他们到植物园旅行的创意设计的海报以及漫画风格的寓言。

       这次英语节的开展，不仅锻炼了学生们实践动手能力，也提高了学生英语口语交际能力。学生通过这次英语节，收获良多。
