上海外国语大学西外外国语学校于2008年创办国际高中部，2014年成为上海市教委特批的21所国际课程试点学校（21校）之一，于去年又获得：
剑桥大学国际考试委员会CIE (Cambridge International Examinations) 授权并开设剑桥课程：IGCSE & A LEVEL
美国大学理事会 (College Board) 授权并开设AP课程 (美国大学先修课程)
成为上海市21校中第一所同时开设英、美双A国际课程的国际高中。
课程介绍
会考课程
上海生源和非上海生源完成三年高中学业且通过语文、政治、历史、地理四门会考后，将取得国家颁发的高中文凭（国际课程）。
剑桥课程
针对9-10年级的学生提供10余门IGCSE课程，通过考试的学生将被授予该科目的证书并得到世界各地的中学和大学的认可；同时该课程也为许多其他高阶课程的学习奠定了良好的基础，包括A Level、AP和IB。
AP课程
针对11-12年级的学生提供10余门AP大学先修课程，在经过一年的课程学习之后可以参加每年五月份的全球统一考试，取得优异成绩的科目可以减免相应的大学学分进而缩短大学毕业的年限，这也是申请者向大学招生官展示自己学术能力的重要依据。
教学特色
分层授课： 根据学生的英语水平分层，进行小班化教学；授课班分为荣誉班和平行班。

明星社团
“筑梦社团”——2016年度中国优秀中学生社团、最佳人气社团
这是一个由学生自主发起并由家校、社会共同参与的公益项目。从2014年至今，每年的暑假都会与云南偏远落后地区的学校结对，鼓励学生利用时间，帮助社会募捐，修建校园，辅导当地孩子学业。社团自成立四年以来，共帮助8所学校，捐赠8个图书馆与16000本书籍，参与人数90多人。

公益活动
"根与芽"是一项全球性的环保公益项目，成立八年之久，西外学子坚持四年远赴内蒙开展“保护地球家园、减少沙漠化”的“西外林”项目；
公益纪录片《曙光》由高一学生自行组织拍摄团队，在得到相关政府部门许可后，走上凌晨四点的上海街头，关注城市中很少被关注的人群。从构思、踩点、选角到拍摄、收音、打光再到后期制作，以这样的方式表达对社会弱势群体的关爱。

Xi Wai
Xiwai International School, SISU established its International High School in 2008, and in 2014 became one of the 21 International Curriculum Pilot Schools licensed by the Shanghai Education Bureau. Last year, our school obtained certification from Cambridge International Examinations to offer IGCSE and A Level courses and certification by the College Board to offer AP courses. This makes Xiwai the first international high school among the 21 approved Shanghai schools to offer both Cambridge and AP programs.
Course Introduction
Graduates who have completed three years of high school education and passed the High School Graduate Test in Chinese, Politics, History and Geography will attain a dual diploma – one that is recognized in China, and also allows them to go directly to a four-year university abroad.
At Xiwai, we currently offer Cambridge courses for students in Grades 9 and 10. These courses are called IGCSE courses (for International General Certificate of Secondary Education). At the end of each course, students take an examination that is marked externally by Cambridge Assessment. Students who pass the exams are awarded a certificate for that subject. These certificates are recognized by high schools and universities around the world. IGCSE courses provide an excellent foundation for further study in many programs, including A Level, AP, and IB.
We also offer AP courses in Grades 11 and 12. There are two components to every AP course: the course itself, which takes a full year to complete; and the AP exam, which students take in May and which is marked externally by the College Board. By completing an AP course, students are eligible to receive AP credit on their transcripts; by doing well on the AP exam, they can also gain credit from American universities toward their undergraduate GPA and can even graduate from university early.
Teaching Characteristics
According to their English level, students are divided into Honors, Regular, and ESL (Foundation) classes.
Activities & Competitions
Students are expected to excel not only in their studies, but also in their character development, leadership and organizational skills, and sense of social responsibility.
To that end, we carry out various activities as part of our CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) program. These activities provide students with many opportunities to gain early exposure to both the challenges and the benefits of living and studying abroad.

The Merchant of Venice - Court Approval won "Excellent Team Performance Award" in the 4th Shanghai Middle School Student Drama Festival.
The original screenplay Discipline the Naughty Kids won "Best Male Actor" and "Excellent Team Performance Award" in Shanghai “Bank of China Cup” Middle School Student English Melodrama Contest.

Popular Clubs
The “Dream Building Club” (voted 2016 China Outstanding Middle School Student Club and Best Popular Club), is a public welfare project initiated by students with participation and support from parents and wider society. Every summer holiday since 2014
Xiwai International School students have helped schools in remote and underdeveloped areas in Yunnan province. Students are encouraged to use their time to do what they can to help others, such as collecting social donations, building campuses, and providing learning guidance for local children. Since its establishment four years ago, the club has helped eight schools, donated 8 libraries and 16,000 books, and more than 90 students have participated.

Public Welfare Activities
Roots and Shoots, a global environmental awareness organization, has more than 8 years of history. A “Xiwai Forest” project has been carried out for 4 years in Inner Mongolia by Xiwai students to “Protect the Earth and Reduce Desertification”.
The public welfare documentary Dawn is an ongoing film project by G10 students. After obtaining permission from relevant government departments, the students went to the streets of Shanghai at 4:00 am, to focus on those people who rarely get attentions. Every step of producing this documentary, from conception to spotting, casting, shooting, radio, lighting and post-production, expresses our love for socially disadvantaged groups.
