初中双语部重在融合，围绕“文化与素养”的主题、以拓展型课程的形式举办了很多活动，旨在培养全面发展的学生——拥有共同的优秀品质与素养，又散发出独特的气质。

 一 沉浸文化体验

初中双语部的教师队伍由中教与外教共同组成，产生出奇妙的反应——浓厚且异质的文化氛围，让学生在文明海洋中浸润、徜徉。

 身披朝晖，扎根本土

汉服社，从基本的制衣材质，到多变的服装样式，再到细致的刺绣图案与讲究的配饰，围绕汉服延荡开去的介绍，无不展现着中华文化的礼仪核心与复杂的历史嬗变。学生从服饰知识触摸历史的衣襟，与曾经身着汉服的古人展开一段精神邂逅。

茶艺社，通过演示饮茶活动过程，展现茶叶品评技法和艺术操作手段的鉴赏以及品茗美好环境的领略等整个品茶过程的美好意境。茶艺早已不是单纯的日常行为，学生在这一过程中感受形式和精神的统一、文化与审美的融合。

象棋游戏最早称为象戏，此一词出北周，经过千年沉淀，早已成为中国智慧的象征。棋社，通过纵横之策的讲解与实操，让学生在一盘棋局之中益智动脑，更在不同棋局开张收和的过程中磨炼出的潜沉智慧与人生态度

奔赴星辰，连接彼岸

在大陆的另一端，在大洋的彼岸，绽放着不同的、绚烂的文化，那是双语部外教们的家乡，是养育他们的精神沃土。外教们在万圣节、感恩节、圣诞节举办各种活动，邀请学生一起按照家乡的传统习俗庆祝。

At Xiwai we believe in celebrating both traditional Chinese holidays as well as western holidays. Most families have holiday traditions, regardless of what holiday you are celebrating. Even when we grow up and form our own families, we naturally merge our new traditions with some of the old. It seems that traditions, new or old have a strong place in our hearts. Holiday traditions become an-essential aspect of how we celebrate, and there is a reason why we keep them as a part of our lives for so long. Simply put we hold onto holiday traditions because they add meaning to our celebrations, and help bond us to those we love.

Each year the students and teachers at Xiwai celebrate western festivals together. From Halloween on October 31st where everyone dresses to Thanksgiving day in November where the teachers and students share what they’re thankful for and share traditional thanksgiving day food like turkey, stuffing and vegetables.

Of course the biggest Western holiday we celebrate is Christmas where Santa pays a visit to Xiwai and the students share gifts, play games and watch Christmas movies. These festivals form a connection between the students and the teachers.

We also celebrate Chinese festivals, recently we celebrated the dragon boat festival and the students taught the teachers about the significance of this day as well as sharing the traditional moo cakes that people enjoy during this holiday. To summarise both Western and Chinese festivals play a key role at Xiwai and provide a good chance to learn about other cultures and traditions. 

多元文化的并置，构成了自古至今、由东向西的文化坐标系。初中双语部力图在多样的活动中展现这一坐标，让学生世界文化坐标系中更加深入地理解文化的本质、探索个人的位置。

二 培养现代素养

文化的沉浸、涅槃与延续，从来都不是囿于“过去”，而是为了更好地理解当下，指向未来。

初中双语部举办了各种体育赛事，运动会、足球赛、篮球赛等等。这些体育赛事不仅让学生在锻炼中拥有强健的体格，更让学生在汗水中学会团队合作、战术策略与友好竞争的体育精神。

“西外国际杯“商业模拟校园挑战赛，在接近真实的商业环境中，让参赛代表体验市场经济的规律和规范；在公平的环境下，尽最大可能发挥代表的创造力与商业才华；在合理赛制的引导下，培养参赛代表的商业前瞻性并拓展其商业视野。这一过程体现了商业世界创造价值并传递价值、平衡长期与短期、平衡风险与收益、专业合作与分工以及应对变化的核心理念。

辩论社，发挥语言极致的魅力——表意之精确、逻辑之理性与气势之雄盛，让学生在一场场智力与语言的博弈中迅速提升材料收集能力、团队合作能力与自我表达能力。

The Xiwai Debate Society was founded in 2017 by Will Bond (Head of History & Humanities) and Steven Herring (Middle School Coordinator). During the first 4 years we had great success at the tournaments we entered all over China including Hangzhou, Nanjing, Suzhou, Shanghai and Ningbo. Here are a few of our trophies and awards won by Xiwai students over the years.

这是一个信息时代，Tv+报社则为学生了解现代媒介运作提供了平台，从选择主题、确定风格、编纂文字、设计图画、调整排版，到投入印发与宣传等环节，展现出学生对于相关软件的运用能力、对于生活与社会的关注力与思考能力、艺术审美能力以及沟通协作能力。

在初中双语部，这些活动并非独立于课堂之外的调味品，而是作为拓展性课程成为教学育人的重要构成部分。这些活动以中西文化为基底，指向多元的现代核心素养，同时，也为学生提供了多样性的锻炼平台，让每位独特的学生都能闪耀自己的光芒。
